Did you know that nearly 80% of people who visit the dentist will admit they don’t floss? Shocking isn’t it? And it’s no surprise how often you’ve heard how important flossing is. It’s true! Flossing can help in the prevention of decay or cavities by removing the remaining particles of food or plaque found in the tight spaces around and between your teeth. Flossing will also maintain the health and condition of your gums, preventing the risk of gum disease.
If you are struggling to incorporate flossing into your daily routine, keep in mind that floss holders are an easy to use, quick method to help make flossing simple. Not sure what the proper way to floss is? No worries! We can help you with that!
First take an approximately 18 inches of floss, winding most of the floss around each middle finger, leaving a one to two inch gap in the middle. Then, holding the floss tight, gently slide it up and down between your teeth. The floss should follow along your tooth, up under your gum line. Be careful not to break the floss, this can cut or bruise your gum tissue. Floss all of your teeth and throw away the floss after using it.
